Built on the DW6 suspension platform this bike is light on the climbs but super-capable for a sick descent - the perfect combo for a big adventure. The Atherton Trail Bike has passed all the most stringent Cat 4 (Enduro) and Cat 5 tests (Downhill) from EFBE with flying colours. Not only do we offer 22 sizes for a perfect physical fit, but this bike comes in two very distinct versions so wherever you ride you can be sure of a top day out.

MTB News DE
It’s crystal clear that the Athertons have put together a unique package, with a distinct look and an equally distinct ride quality that sits head and shoulders above most generic designs. That alone should be worth the asking price, but when you factor in the lifetime frame warranty, even for bike park use, it’s equally clear that the A.130 X isn’t just about its cool looks.
Alan Muldoon, MBR
A Welsh artisan aggro trail bike. The unique construction method is sure to turn heads as well so if you're looking for a boutique trail bike that will stand out on the trails, then the Atherton Bikes A.130 is an excellent choice.
Bike Perfect
The 130 is one of those bikes that really doesn't mind which way the trail goes. It delivers a calm, composed ride no matter the terrain - a reliable adventure mobile that can handle just about anything.

Dream Build
We understand that you’ll have your preferences on parts confirmed by years of riding in your style in your terrain, so why compromise? We want every bike that leaves our HQ to be the perfect match for its rider… and that includes every single component.
We believe that a perfect fitting bike can transform your ride experience, that's why we offer more sizes than our competitors, from 410mm to 530mm reach as well as custom sizing options.
DW6 KINEMATIC
The AM.130 can take surprisingly big hits in its stride, with Dave Weagle’s DW6 linkage and a custom-tuned shock provide outstanding small bump sensitivity, optimal ride height and a progressive kinematic.
LIGHTWEIGHT WALLS
Through FEA simulation have reduced the wall thickness by removing .25mm over the whole lug. We put the bike through the same test procedure as our downhill bike and it's passed the EFBE test with flying colours.
NO THREADS, NO PROBLEM
There’s nothing as annoying as a stripped thread so the only threaded part on our bikes is the BB; for the rest, barrel nuts and standard fasteners mean you'll never have to hunt a custom part again!
PORT-TO-PORT CABLE ROUTING
Port-to-port cable routing with an internal sleeve guiding the cables through the frame, offering a clean and sleek aesthetic, eradicating rattle and making maintenance as easy as for an externally routed system.
RUGGED DOWNTUBE PROTECTOR
All our bikes come equipped with a rugged downtube protector designed and manufactured in the UK using multi-jet fusion technologies, impacts are dampened and dispersed across a larger area.

FAQ's
I’m torn between two models, how do I choose?
It’s often helpful to focus this question on the terrain you ride most regularly and your focus on those rides. But there is a lot of overlap.
The 130 is awesome for riders who love flowing trails and the chance to earn their descents but it’s also super tough, so it’s fully warrantied for bike park use and super fun!
The A150 opens up rougher and steeper terrain.
The 170 was designed for rowdy bike park laps but is an absolute beast on the trails ... and it climbs “better than a bike with this much travel has any right to.” MBUK.
Of course, if you’re going to race downhill there’s no question – choose the World Championship-winning A200!
What warranty is offered with Atherton Bikes
We will only ever sell bikes that we are confident ride ourselves. Because of this, original owners will be offered a conditional lifetime warranty on the frame, excluding wearable parts such as bearings.
What are the differences between the A130 and A130.X?
The frame is the same. We started with a specific X build using a longer 150mm travel and tougher components for a more enduro-friendly ride but you can ask us to fit a 150mm fork to any of our recommended builds – or spec your favourite parts from frame with shock and fork to full bike.
How much does the A130 weigh?
Frame weight is approximately 3.1kg without shock; complete builds can get as low as 13kg.
Can I take the A.130 to the Bike Park?
Yes absolutely – in fact, some of our engineers ride their A.130s at Dyfi every week – not only is the A.130 super capable but it’s passed EWFBE’s most stringent tri-tests clearing it for both Enduro and Downhill use – so we offer lifetime guarantee wherever you ride.
Can I get the A130 as a mullet?
No, we believe that our trail bikes perform best as 29ers and so that’s what we offer. We wouldnt want to compromise your experience of this bike in any way...
